JAMES DEAN PRUITT

 I can't stop myself from creating, from existing as an artist. In all mediums, in all endeavors, pushing myself to express to the fullest.

James Dean Pruitt was born in small town Kansas, and grew up in various towns and cities throughout Kansas, Arizona, and California. Inspired and driven by a need to explore and create art that would uplift and express a sense of stability, James sought out the things he didn’t have as a child to a single mother, who experience the hardships of drug addicted parents, homelessness, and physical abuse. Don’t let that fool you though, James came with a smile on his face as an act of defiance against the struggles he’s faced. 

As a self taught artist in all mediums, James allows the medium he is working with to guide his ideas forward. Some things are easily put into words, others can only be expressed through painting, a strong ideal he holds dearly. 

James has found success as a mural artist, tattoo artist, and creator. 

As a tattoo artist he built a strong portfolio of iconic imagery. His roses are well known as he developed a clear style of his own that includes bright bold colors with a very wide variety of skill sets and styles. Currently, he is also the owner of Denver, CO tattoo shop Lumenati Tattoo. Where he has gathered a solid collection of tattoo artists that inspire him and push what it means to be a tattooer. 

His mural work is somewhat reflective of the style he developed through this tattoo career, and delving into more concepts that cannot be translated into tattoos. Relying on a strong idea of colors and their relationships, his vibrant murals can be seen in the Denver Rino area, including Rino Arts Headquarters. 

James has also centered himself as a figurehead in the art community; hosting art nights, art shows, and events at Lumenati.
